Earthbag Construction

Earthbag construction is a cheap, strong way of building. It uses a natural construction method based off army style bunkers and flood-barrier building techniques. The earth bag construction requires very basic materials: sacks (hessian, canvas, cotton, plastic), filler (gravel, sand, concrete, clay) and wire or barbed wire (using the sharp points in the wire as re-enforcement and structure binding). This earth bag system facilitates rapid and cheap construction of emergency shelter alternatively used for long-term structures in milder climates.

In more recent times earthbag construction has been use in conjunction with cement to produce more hardy and longterm structures in housing. This technique combines several other principals of construction to form a number of potential applications.
