Autumn comes to the Southern Hemisphere in March, and this is the time for planting cool season crops such as:
- Beetroot
- Brussels sprouts
- Carrots
- Cauliflower
- Leeks
- Onions
- Sugar snaps
- Sweet peas
- Lettuce
- Spinach
- Broccoli
- Cabbage
When harvesting pumpkins, allow them to cure in the sun – this allows the skin to harden. Remember to keep some of the stalk on the pumpkin to prevent rot.
Bits and pieces from earlier crops can be thrown on the compost heap or turned into mulch. After you cut your grass, get the garden service to add this to the compost heap (or do it yourself).
