We Tried Dunkin’s Avocado Toast & This Is the Honest Truth
I could probably write a novel about my love for avocado toast. You’ve got your carbs, some healthy fats, not to mention avocado is loaded with fiber. Balance a fried egg on top for protein, and you’ve got yourself a delicious, nutritious, perfectly well-balanced meal. So when Dunkin’ added avocado toast to its menu, I knew I had to try it on principle. I mean, would I be a true, #basic millennial if I didn’t?
Per the savory new menu item’s official press release, Dunkin’s avocado toast consists of a creamy avocado mash seasoned with sea salt, black pepper, and lemon juice spread over a standard-sized piece of sourdough toast. It also comes topped with a classic everything bagel seasoning that includes sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onion, and garlic. One piece is 240 calories, with 34 grams of carbs, 11 grams of fat, 6 grams of protein, and 6 grams of fiber, securing it as one of the healthier options on the coffee and donut chain’s menu by far.

How does Dunkin’s avocado toast taste?
Dunkin’s avocado toast tastes like the ingredients used to make it: simple but in the best way possible, especially for a fast-food chain.
I ordered my piece in-house, not via an app, and I watched the bread come fresh out of the oven. I couldn’t see the assembling of the avocado and toast, so I couldn’t tell you if it’s a fresh spread. However, even if they made their spread overnight, it still tasted pretty fresh. There was also a very generous heap of the avocado, and it was evenly distributed over the long piece of bread, which was both awesome and very much appreciated (I was hungry).
Overall, it’s an enjoyable piece of toast. I’d rate it a 4 out of 5 stars. It could have used less salt; the salty taste wasn’t overwhelming and didn’t take away from the experience, but I could have done with a pinch or so less of the spice. I also would have added an egg on top, but that’s just my personal preference. I did add a few drops of hot sauce near the end, for some heat.
Bottom line: At $2.99 per slice, Dunkin’s avocado toast is a solid grab-and-go breakfast or brunch option. It’s tasty, affordable, and a nutritious way to fuel up for the day when you’re in a hurry, have a craving, or just don’t feel like making homemade avo toast. I would order it again—but only if I didn’t have the time or resources to make it from scratch myself.
